WATCH THE INTERVIEW HERE!

2025 had its share of challenges – from week-to-week changes in tariff schedules to hot-and-cold fluctuations in manufacturing. We decided to sit down with Kevin Moy to understand how he keeps a cool head and clear vision in turbulent times. Below is a transcript of the interview. Enjoy!

INTERVIEWER: Hi! My name is Beniah Dickson from NorthAmCon, and today I am joined by Kevin Moy – our VP of Operations. Welcome Kevin.

KEVIN: Ah, thank you Beniah.

INTERVIEWER: Kevin, can you tell me a little about your work history before joining NorthAmCon?

Kevin: Sure. You’re dating me already, but yes, I can. Coming up 40 years in conveyor belt manufacturing, DC power transmission, international manufacturing and sourcing, and now here, the last couple years, with NorthAmCon, LLC.

INTERVIEWER: Thank you Kevin. Can you tell me, what does NorthAmCon manufacture?

Kevin: Well, NorthAmCon specializes in DC conveyance. Conveyors and conveyor components of straights, curves, transfers, diverts – all sorts of components that go into a conveyor system.

INTERVIEWER: And who does NorthAmCon sell to?

KEVIN: Well, we focus on two segments; integration and OEMs. The integrators that buy from us who may use an entire system that we build for them, up to the PLC, or just portions of it that mate in with other systems that they’re buying. OEMs is primarily focused around making a conveyor component that they may not want to make, they may not be great at making it, or we just provide a better solution or a better product for them.

INTERVIEWER: So Kevin, you’ve been at NorthAmCon about two years now. What are some of the changes that you have implemented in that time period?

KEVIN: I think our people are the biggest asset that we have. So I have put a lot of emphasis on training sessions, seminars; to improve the overall education, the overall knowledge of our product, so we can better serve our customers with that. We also are inviting vendors in for doing training seminars of their products. Products that we use in our conveyor components to better train our staff and apply these vendor products correctly.

INTERVIEWER: Is there any new resources, or sales tools, that you have introduced to the team in the last couple of years?

KEVIN: Yeah. We have spent a lot of time in creating, um, line cards, creating application questionnaire sheets, creating conveyance componentry question specifications.  These are all tools that our salespeople, our sales application engineers, our project managers, they have them readily available at their fingertips now to make sure that we’re asking all of the appropriate and correct questions to the customer. We’re launching a new website. It make be up, or already up by the time this video gets out there. But check out our new website. It has substantial information – far more than what we have ever posted before.

We have always been a build-to-order; bring us your designs, we’ll design it and we’ll manufacture it, ship it out to you. We’re now launching a new line, what we are calling Nor+. We’ll be able to offer a standard line and we’ll be able to easily customize it to fit for the customer’s solution.

INTERVIEWER: So what are some of the benefits of a standard line versus total build-to-order?

KEVIN: Well, Nor+ standard allows us to offer a standardized product to the customer. That may work well in their application. If they need modifications, customizing it, that’s no problem because we can take the Nor+ standard line and customize it to fit their application perfectly. What that does, in comparison to build-to-order; build-to-order forces us to do the design work – which just takes time. In standard, those standards are already design, they’re already engineered, so Nor+ should drive us down the road of being more effective with our delivery and with our overall costing structure for the customer.

INTERVIEWER: So what makes NorthAmCon different than any other conveyor manufacturer?

KEVIN: NorthAmCon is one company of a much larger consortium of companies. That gives us competency, capacity, ability to handle almost any size project that’s brought to us – small or large. With that, we gain years of engineering and manufacturing expertise, history, design to engineering of the entire system; and even beyond that, providing simulations of the system itself, also.

Earlier I talked about us introducing Nor+ standard, but we’ve always been a build-to-order company. So, we’re not limited to any size or any restrictions. If you have a design, or a want, or a need, there is a very strong chance that we’ll be able to build you a solution that fits.

And lastly, it’s our team. We have years of experienced staff in manufacturing ,assembly, engineering, development, design. These folks are wonderful and they can solve almost any problem you bring to us.

INTERVIEWER: Well, something that is important regardless of the industry is innovation. So, how does NorthAmCon innovate?

KEVIN: Great question. We just expanded our research and development team. We’re adding to that staff. That staff is charged with identifying new components that solve new conveyance issues. We also have our existing customers that may drive a solution that they need that has to run through research and development, so that potentially becomes an innovative product also.

INTERVIEWER: So speaking of innovation, are there any new products available from NorthAmCon?

KEVIN: We’ve done a couple so far. We saw, uh, powered flex become a prominent conveyance solution in the marketplace, so we are now offering a Nor+ Powered Flex solution to the marketplace. We have what we are calling a Nor+ 360 Transfer Table; it’s a table with multi-directional wheels in it, that you can now transfer or divert product in any angle you want.

INTERVIEWER: So Kevin, we’re starting to run out of time. Do you have any closing thoughts?

KEVIN: Yes. The best way to learn about NorthAmCon and how we can help you is go check out our new website. You’ll learn about our products, our industries, our solutions, and the best way to reach our sales team.

INTERVIEWER: Well, thanks again Kevin!

KEVIN: Thank you, Beniah!
